Barlow Tyrie Supports NHS Staff

There is little doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting lives across the world, no more so than NHS staff working at the front line, treating patients with the disease in the UK. Barlow Tyrie produces outdoor furniture for gardens, parks, and hospitality, so it would seem difficult for the company to do its bit to help. But after a call from landscaping specialist Ground Control asking for garden suppliers to donate to a new tranquillity garden built at Newham University Hospital in east London, Barlow Tyrie was happy to offer a classic London bench with inscription. The tranquillity garden is designed for NHS staff to take a much-needed break during a busy shift.

Barlow Tyrie also put its wood carving skills to good use this week and built a sign for a pop-up supermarket at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. The shop is the brainchild of Jason Mawer. He saw how some staff were struggling to get fresh groceries after a long shift and decided to build a volunteer-led, on-site shop exclusively for NHS staff. There are now nine open across the UK. The supermarket helps them quickly get their food shopping during this crisis and is proving extremely popular.
